Please consider helping.
Willow was a stray dog who was picked up by the sheriff in northern Ohio. She was horribly matted and dirty but is now in loving care.
Willow’s family tells us they are blessed to have her as part of their family and I am sure Willow feels just as blessed. When she came to Almost Home she was matted and covered in fleas. She obviously had been neglected and wonder if she might have been abused in her past. In the evening she sometimes has what her family call her “night frights.” Moving their feet when sitting near her tends to initiate a night fright. She jumps up, growls and runs off. They quickly reassure her that she is safe and all is ok and that helps her to calm down and lay back down in her favorite spot. Some wounds are hard to heal.
Willow is very special to her family and is a wonderful companion. She has great house manners and is unusually quiet for a sheltie. They affectionately call her their little princess: she only “sits” when asked if she is on soft, warm carpeting because, after all, she is a princess! She loves, loves going for walks. But, if she should happen to see a squirrel she totally loses her quiet demeanor and barks and barks to make sure the poor squirrel knows she is definitely out to get it if given the chance. Willow’s family mentioned they have reaped an unexpected benefit of having a dog that enjoys her walks. They are out and about much more than they typically were before Willow joined them and said as they get older and in the middle of a pandemic it has been good for both their physical and mental health. And Willow now has people who value her for the sweet dog she is.
We are so happy that Willow came to Almost Home and will have a loving home for the rest of her life. Please read how you can help Almost Home support the Senior to Senior Program.
