Description:
Dear Friends of Almost Home,
Callie is home and happy! Here she is giving you a "High Five" and a big thank-you. She holds our hand every day and plops her 51 pound-self into our lap and snuggles. Earl has been completely taken by her. It is the first dog that ever sat in his lap. Callie wouldn't take "no" for an answer. I think she has stolen him away from me. Callie has a small 7'x9' fenced in wooden porch where she heads every morning at 7:00. I call her half "rooster" because she loves announcing the break of day! Good-bye quiet mornings. She often lays on her blanket and enjoys the sunshine and breeze. When she is ready for her walk, she runs to where her leash hangs and stares at it—I get the hint! When I leave for work, her chin rests on the window sill and her nose is pressed against the window. She can see out enough to watch me get into the truck and drive away. She is such good company for Earl, even though she sometimes needs to be reminded not to be a throw rug! She has her nap place in the living room right along with our lean-back chairs. In the evening she wrestles with her pink piggy puppet. She throws it in the air and pounces on it, then tears through the house like a locomotive at high speed. When she is finally worn out she re-makes her bed, as she never likes it neat! She lays down with her piggy and goes to sleep, ....unless she hears a paper rattle, the oven or refrigerator door open, etc. etc. Funny how food has that hold on us! I can't sneak anything!
Callie was a good girl at her new vet's office and tolerated her ear drops. Her hair is beginning to grow and we tell her how beautiful she is. Knowing Callie had some teeth pulled due to possibly chewing on her cage made us sad. Callie can sit, shake hands and is pretty good on a leash, but we do not cage her. She'd rather be in one of our laps! Ha. Thank-you Almost Home. You are all the BEST!
