Meet Chloe

Description:

Chloe was rescued out of a Kentucky shelter. At approximately 13-14 years of age, with matted, flea- and tick-infested fur, she was a sad sight. After proper vetting, Chloe was also found to have parasites, so she was in need of medical care. Her coat needed to be shaved. The fleas and ticks needed to be treated. Despite being about 22 pounds, Chloe looked quite skinny after being shaved. Her eyes were sad and wary. Hearts at AHDRO melted. The shelter thought Chloe was a sheltie or sheltie mix. Her fosters had genetic testing performed. The results are in and the main components in descending order were:  Australian shepherd, sheltie, Australian cattle dog/blue heeler, collie and more! You could say that Chloe has mostly Australian and Scottish roots, but she’s all AHDRO.

After a short time in AHDRO, Chloe has a happier story. Chloe is now in her forever senior foster home with two loving, experienced foster parents. Chloe is opening her heart and beginning to realize she is HOME. Her foster parents are learning more about Chloe each day. Favorite activity? Food. Chloe’s motivation? Food. Chloe’s favorite place to be? With her foster mom and dad. Chloe demonstrated she was housebroken and didn’t need to be crated. She’s calm and hasn’t shown fear or anxiety toward anything. Love is so powerful. Chloe might not know any commands, but soon the training will start, and we suspect Chloe will be a fast learner as long as there is consistent food and love. Her fosters certainly have love and patience too.

Would it have mattered to AHDRO or her fosters if Chloe had littleto no sheltie or collie DNA? No. Will it matter to them and to Chloe that they found each other and will be each other's constant, loving companions? Absolutely. Welcome home precious Chloe.
