Description:

Dixie is on medical hold because she was heartworm positive and is currently undergoing treatment.  However, we wanted to tell you a bit about this sweet girl.  She is friendly, curious and enjoys both people and other dogs. In fact, she gets along with cats as well. Dixie enjoys cuddling with her people and is mellow inside, but when outside she can be found playing with the resident dogs. She is calm, intelligent and eager to please. She understands the words “come” and “crate.”  When the family is away from home, she readily goes into her crate.

Dixie is curious about strangers, neither excited nor fearful, and accepts anyone to whom her foster offers a friendly greeting. She does not like loud noises and looks toward her foster for reassurance when she hears something loud or unexpected. Dixie has not had any experiences with children yet, and we will update you as we have more information. Her demeanor is good-natured and gentle.  The world is full of smells and interesting things to see so she is working on improving her leash skills, but we are sure that will continue to progress. We wish Dixie an easy recuperation with good health in her future.
