Description:
Roxie has jumped into her new life with all four paws. Before AHDRO, Roxie was in an outdoor kennel with a dog house. She had limited exposure to humans and didn’t know what toys were. In just a few short weeks, Roxie has come so far. She is house trained, and her foster hasn’t had the need to confine her to a crate. She reports that Roxie usually just lies down on the couch when left alone and settles in. In fact, she’s more apt to be mischievous when her fosters are home and not paying attention to her than she is when she’s alone. In other words, she knows how to get their attention back on her. Roxie loves to cuddle and be with her fosters. She also loves to play with other dogs and run around the yard with them. She’s cautious at first with new dogs but is curious.
Roxie is timid about new things and her reaction is to just lie down. She’ll usually be coaxed into whatever it is, like crossing a new threshold; but if not, her fosters just pick her up. She is a bit underweight, although she is a petite girl. She rides well once you get her in the car. Loud, unexpected noises and storms are unnerving to her, and she does best if she is reassured. Roxie isn’t food motivated so training has been slow, but she’s shown she’s smart and she wants to please. She knows a few commands and has a “soft” understanding of a few more.
Roxie is showing herself to be a rock star and is readying herself to meet her forever family when they are ready to meet her.
