Description:
Nora is a double merle and is blind and deaf. Reading about her life with her fosters after just one week, it’s hard to believe she doesn’t hear or see. Nora is currently very thin, but she is highly food motivated and loves exploring for food treats (also counter and table surfing), so she might not be underweight for long.
Nora equally likes people and dogs. She also loves both food and play. Turn the play into a treasure hunt for food, and she is a happy girl. She does want to stick with her foster parents should they leave the room. She doesn’t like being left alone or confined. Out in the yard, she loves to explore and to play with their other dogs. However, she isn’t good at picking up on their cues and plays a bit rough. Her foster mom thinks she would do best with energetic dog sibling(s).
Her foster folks are teaching her “no” by a tap on her muzzle. They are also training her to feel comfortable in a crate. Currently, however, she doesn’t like being crated. Nora is cuddly and affectionate. She’s curious, intelligent, and seems to have settled in pretty quickly at her foster home. Blind and deaf dogs are truly special, and they are trainable. Nora awaits her forever home with an experienced owner who has worked with deaf/blind dogs or someone who is committeed to the training necessary so she can continue to expand her horizons and blossom into a beloved family member.
