Meet Chance
Description:
Chance is a collie that was rescued by AHDRO in late November, 2022. At that time, he was estimated to be about 10 years old. While a great dog, Chance received virtually no interest for adoption because of his age and because he is both heartworm positive and virtually blind in both eyes. A canine ophthalmologist in Columbus examined Chance. She determined that because of the severity of his cataracts, nothing could be done to improve his vision. He is still undergoing heartworm treatment; the damage done to his heart at this point is not known. On the bright side, during his boarding and initial examinations and treatment, Chance attracted the attention of a registered veterinarian technician. She fell in love with him, choosing to interact with him before her workday began and during brief moments during her busy days. She decided to apply to adopt him, but AHDRO had already moved him into the S2S program. She was approved to become his S2S foster mom, even though she is not close to being a senior herself! Chance will have a human brother as well as canine and feline brothers; his grandparents even live next door. AHDRO is excited about Chance’s future. While his new home is assured, his physical condition is still partly unknown. Please check this area for updates as he begins his new life with a wonderful family. As with all S2S dogs, if you are moved by his story, consider a sponsorship for Chance.
