Robbie and Junie B
Rob Roy (Robbie) and Junie B were rescued by AHDRO in ’07 and ‘09 and named Elliot and Sydney. Rob was from a MO puppy mill and Junie B was a stray from WV. Since moving to MI, Robbie has made great progress in learning how to be and enjoy being a dog. He helps his dad around the property off-leash and has learned how to run, romp and play and has even been seen with toys in his mouth. In the last month, a dog formerly terrified of confined places has been caught taking his siesta’s in a vacant crate. He’s been with us since 12/07 and his continuing growth in confidence, security and in his desire for human attention have been a source of great happiness for his mom and dad. There are more and more collie smiles now.
Junie has been a source of consternation and laughter since she came to live with us. Her stubbornness is showing signs of mellowing and she craves more and more snuggle time. She’s been a great instigator/playmate for Robbie and our foster girl Babe and together they can put on quite a show, chasing and playing in the snow. Junie has also proven to be a gentle and fun playmate for our Shih Tzu and they seem to have become BFF’s. Robbie and Junie B have just completed obedience classes and were the best students in the class…of course, they WERE the only COLLIES so what else could one expect?
They are always a hit at PetsMart and on walks. Collies are rare in our area and a matched pair cause quite a stir with dog people. They now have custom bandanas to wear on outings. Robbie’s has his name, a rough sable collie and “Puppy Mill Survivor” embroidered on his and Junie B has her name, a rough sable collie and “Rescued Collie” embroidered on hers. Hopefully the bandanas will be conversation starters for rescue.
