Meet Joe
Description:
Hi! My name is Joe and I was found wandering the streets of Knoxville, Tennessee. AHDRO was kind enough to get me out the shelter where I was taken. I was a mess then, hungry but not eating, matted, skinny, and I can't hear anymore so it's a wonder anyone even gave me a second look. But boy did my life turn around. I am eating, gaining weight, and loving homelife. I am a new guy! In fact, I was so excited after I got groomed that I heard my foster mom say I was prancing! I love my foster human and make sure I am wherever she is. Even if I am sleeping, I notice if she leaves the room. I think they call it a Velcro dog (what's Velcro?), but everyone seems to think it is a good thing.
I won't win any races, but I love the leisurely walks I take morning and evening. I can go over a mile if we go slowly. I like meeting other dogs and people and having a chance to stop and smell the world on our way. Speaking of dogs, I think I would enjoy a quiet, calm companion in my forever home but would be fine being the only dog. Everyone who meets me tells me what a handsome boy I am as they pet me. I am looking for someone who wants a sweet senior who is not a lot of trouble to take care of and loves to cuddle and snuggle.
Since Joe’s a bit modest, we’ll also share that he has great house manners. He goes to the door when he wants to go outside. He does take two daily medications -- an antacid and pain relief for his arthritis. He is housetrained. Although he didn't eat well initially, if he has food available, he eats when he is hungry and is gaining weight. He does scratch at his bed, looks a little desperate and whines about once a day but stops if you go and touch him. And he does not like the rain. He is a lovely senior. We are so glad we spotted him and brought him to Ohio. The only thing he needs now is his permanent foster to be his companion in his golden years.
