In Memory of Laddie
Description:
When Laddie arrived at his permanent fosters they were delighted to tell him he had finally come home! He had just made a long and circuitous trip from Tennessee to Ohio, thanks to many dedicated volunteers and transporters who spent hours and hours to make it all happen. His life had started out well, but as happens to people and dogs, circumstances can change in an instant of time. So at 11 years old, he needed a new home. An Almost home volunteer heard of his plight and started writing the new story of his life.
Laddie was a little guy for a collie, but oh so sweet. He stood nearby to be petted or hung out with the other dogs in his home. He enjoyed his walks outside. In fact, whenever you’d go to the door, he thought and hoped that it might be time for another outdoor jaunt. The fosters had a horse and once Laddie “met” her, he’d head to the barn for another visit as often as he could. He loved his walks but if you’d say “time to go home” he’d head back to the house with purpose, perhaps recollecting those months of living outside and glad they were in his past. Within 24 hours of his arrival, he showed us that he remembered that old, wonderful life that he had once had as he commandeered the corner of the sofa and looked at us as if to say, “This is truly where I belong.” Laddie will be missed.
