Description:
Smooth collie Jax’s sweet face lets you know he is an affectionate cuddler at heart. He gets along well with other dogs but is a bit shy at first and would probably not do well with a boisterous dog sibling. When exposed to dogs of different temperaments on walks he was a gentleman with all. His shyness appears to extends to people. He may be cautious with newcomers and new situations until he decides all is ok. But in just a short time made it clear that he loves being with his foster and stays nearby or lounges on the human bed or couch. With children he does have some herding tendencies so dog savvy and confident children would be the best fit. His previous owner said he enjoyed playing but his foster has not seen that yet.
Jax may take some time to get used to new environments. He barks when startled, when he wants something or to alert the family but settles down quickly. He enjoys walks but does still pull on the leash so until he is accustomed to a new family it would be safest for adults to walk him. Crate training is in progress but he is trustworthy when left alone without it. Jax is eager to please and has been a quick learner in his foster home. He is looking for a loving, calm home where he can relax and be your best friend.
