BISSELL Pet Foundation Grant

ALMOST HOME DOG RESCUE OF OHIO Receives $875 Spay & Neuter Grant from

 BISSELL Pet Foundation

Funds will help reduce homeless pet population in Columbus, OH area.

Dublin, OH  (9/15/21) – ALMOST HOME DOG RESCUE OF OHIO has been awarded a $875 grant from BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF) for spay and neuter procedures. This dedicated grant will help reduce the homeless pet population by preventing unwanted litters of stray dogs in the community.

With thousands of pets abandoned each year, proactive spay and neuter procedures address the root cause of animal overpopulation by preventing unwanted births, freeing up shelter and foster home space for pets in need, and saving pets from potential abandonment or euthanasia. BISSELL Pet Foundation awards thousands of dollars every year to shelters and rescues across the country, including Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio, to help protect and save animal lives.

“We understand how important it is to support preventative efforts that allow our partners to save lives through safe spay and neuter procedures,” said Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “We also strongly encourage all pet owners to be responsible and have their pets sterilized, to further ensure healthy pet populations.”

This funding will provide 20 dogs with spay and neuter surgeries in our area.  “We are delighted that the Bissell Pet Foundation has awarded us this grant to our organization during the hardship the pandemic has brought to our rescue diminishing our fundraising and needed income.”  Said Cheryl Rakich, founder/president of Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio.

To date, BISSELL Pet Foundation has awarded more than thousands of dollars in dedicated spay and neuter grants to shelters throughout the United States and the world to help animal welfare organizations. In addition to spay and neuter grants, BISSELL Pet Foundation provides additional support to shelters across the country through sponsoring adoption events, heartworm grants, ground and air transports of shelter animals and more, impacting tens of thousands of animals every year. To learn more, visit www.bissellpetfoundation.org.

About Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio:

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio (AHDRO) is an all-volunteer, 501©(3) non-profit organization that has rescued hundreds of dogs since our inception n 2003.  100% of all donations and fees go directly to the care of our rescued dogs.

AHDRO’s mission is to provide homeless collies, shelties, and mixes of both breeds a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition, and love until their forever homes are found; to reduce the number of unwanted pets by altering all dogs in our rehoming program; to educate the public about the importance of altering pets, and to promote the message that owning a pet is a lifelong commitment.

All AHDRO dogs re placed in the homes of approved volunteers until they are adopted into homes that have been carefully screened for placement.  Upon intake into our program, each dog is examined by a veterinarian, and necessary treatment is administered or a treatment plan is put into place.
