An Update on Casey

Casey joined us on January 30th 2011 and the 6 plus months that he’s been with us have been pure pleasure! While we have always had collies in our home, this is the first time we’ve adopted. We are seniors and Casey was an “almost senior” dog. Wow, we are a perfect match! Getting through our long winter along Lake Erie was a challenge for man and beast: our walks were in snow and ice, along with the brutal winds off the lake. Finally spring arrived and our walks became more enjoyable. Casey met many of the neighboring dogs as we walked and was always the eager gentleman. Finally we were able to get to the “dog park” where he could roam freely.

We never fail to tell folks we meet when walking Casey, that he is an AHDROH (taking time to explain your program) and that adopting him was the best decision we’ve ever made. To be able to bring an older pet into our home and have him so eager to adapt was nothing less than amazing. How could you not fall in love with Casey! Over the past months we have talked to so many folks who have also adopted their dog—-it is so rewarding to hear about the dogs that have been saved!

A long nose is nudging my arm which tells me it’s time for a walk. Again, Casey has brought so much comfort and joy into our lives and we’re so thankful that we came upon AHDRO. We’re looking forward the the annual Reunion Oct. 8th and hope to travel south to Columbus.
