In Memory of Cosette

February 11, 2006 – In loving memory of Cosette:

I will never know the circumstances that brought this wonderful senior collie into rescue. All I know is that dedicated rescue volunteers saved her life. She was skin and bones when she was pulled from the shelter and very weak and sickly. No one expected her to live through the night. She was fed chicken nuggets, hamburger meat and rice in order to get her to eat. I took one look at her and decided to foster her.

Well, fostering quickly turned into adoption. She stole my heart the first time I saw that weary look in her eyes as she laid on the dog bed. She quickly became a Velcro Collie, I couldn’t leave a room without her. After months of special care she blossomed into a real spitfire. She would referee the resident collies wrestling matches. She was also very smart and figured out how to open the gate, the screen door, etc. I had scolded the other resident collies for all kinds of things before I figured out it was Cosette who was counter surfing, knocking over the bird cage, getting into the treats and dumpster diving. The old girl was always up to some sort of mischief. I think that’s what I will miss the most about her. Her antics always had me laughing.

After nearly 2 years together, her health suddenly took a turn for the worst and it was decided to let her go peacefully as she has suffered enough in her life. The vet estimated her age at 14 plus and I truly feel blessed to have had her in my life.

I just can’t say enough wonderful things about my baby girl, she definitely is missed.
