About the medical Hold:

Brys was born with a congenital condition known as Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Brys is preparing to undergo a life-changing surgery at the end of April to close the small vessel that remained open after birth. This condition is highly treatable, and once corrected, dogs like Brys  go on to lead long healthy lives. With his boundless energy and sweet personality, he will be ready to embrace a bright future filled with love, cuddles and plenty of tail wags.

About Brys:

Brys hasn’t been told that at a year and a half he’s not really a puppy any more. He’s having such a blast at his foster mom’s! He loves meeting new dogs because they represent new play opportunities. Brys is hesitant about strangers and observes them before deciding to meet them. For now, it’s better to be calm and let him go to new people when he’s ready, which is typically fairly quickly. Once he does know his person, he’s a true sidekick type of dog. He isn’t demanding and loves nothing more than being with his person. He loves to play (running fast is his favorite activity). He’d be very happy and very good at agility and/or herding activities. Brys needs an outlet for his youthful energy. He sleeps a lot throughout the day but is very active in the morning and late afternoon/evening, so he needs a healthy outlet to burn this energy off. As his foster mom has said, Brys is either totally calm or going at Mach 5. The key to getting him to calm down is to head for the sofa. Let him cuddle while you give belly and chest rubs—he absolutely loves it. A music lover, Brys also chills out to smooth jazz and meditation tunes.

Brys isn’t just gorgeous, he’s smart too. He’s even invented his own “capture the flag” game.
Brys’ game involves him getting a toy or shoe and proudly trotting around to show off his catch to his foster mom like he’s just scored a big win. He’s very good at “leaving it” before ever being told. He knows he can’t keep what he’s found. He’s not out to destroy it—he just enjoys the challenge of “capturing” it and the pride of showing it off.

Brys’ foster mom has many more stories she can’t wait to share; or better yet, if you’re looking for a right-hand companion, meet Brys for yourself and see what a fantastic boy he is.
