Description:
Marlee is a sweet puppy who loves to play, enjoys going for walks and chewing on toys and being petted and loved. Marlee was also born deaf, but that doesn't stop this playful puppy from living life to the fullest. She spent the first months of her life being an outside dog but has adapted quicky to being an inside family companion. Since she was taught the joy of toys she happily plays tug of war and ball. She gets along with other dogs after some initial cautiousness and can be found participating in a rousing game of chase. Curious and interested in the world around her, Marlee keeps an eye on the birds soaring overhead and the geese in a nearby pond.
She is affectionate with people and good-natured. She does need some appropriate things to chew on, because at her age, chewing is still a typical behavior. There are cats in the home, and she does not try to engage with them if they are lounging in a chair. If moving about, she is tempted to chase them to engage in play; however, if they stand their ground, she repects that communication and leaves them alone. As a deaf dog, she is learning hand signals for commands and has mastered “sit.” Marlee needs a home with someone who has had experience with deaf dogs or is willing to work with someone who will help the forever family and Marlee develop good techniques of communication and strategies for safety. She will need a physically fenced-in yard.
