Description:
Robyn is a delightful collie who has many fine traits, learns quickly and bonds to her humans nicely. She enjoys napping and exploring the fenced yard with our males who are 4 and 5. She loves attention and makes sure she is always first to be petted and shows some dominant traits. She will occasionally play chase and once tug of war and prefers her knucklebone to offered toys
She is food motivated and learned “touch for a treat” and “sit” the first day. She walks well on a leash, enjoys being brushed and although young, shows no inclination to chew. Robyn completely misunderstands cats and her prey drive is so strong that the highest value treats are ignored. We are requiring no cats or small animals in the household.
She goes willingly into the crate with a treat and sleeps through the night without a peep. She can be startled by new or different noises. She warms up to new people after she observes them and takes some treats, but she doesn't appear fearful and doesn't bark often.
For a collie with little prior human interaction, she is adjusting to family life surprisingly well. She is always nearby, cuddling up on the couch with her fosters or snoozing by their feet. She can be a little skittish, so a fenced in yard is a must. In new situations, she hesitates and observes and sometimes paces as she processes, but she can be redirected with treats or other dogs.
Robyn would benefit from a home with moderate activity and a fairly predictable noise level. She would benefit from a well-adjusted adult collie sibling, who will help her develop confidence and teach her the “collie ropes” so she becomes the self-assured, happy collie she can be.
