Description:
Maple is a sweet, young collie who is finally learning about true family life. She loves toys, loves people and loves other dogs! Indoors she likes to be close to her human family and cuddle on the sofa. But, she also loves to play and will offer toys as an invitation to the other dogs in the household and occasionally has the zoomies. Outside she runs, plays, explores, and chases the other dogs—for that reason, she needs a fenced in yard for a safe place to run. She would love to have another dog in her forever home, but one that would enjoy her youngster energy and play activities. She is smart and has learned many commands since coming to her foster home, including Sit, Inside, Potty, Treat, No, and is working on Stay.
Because of her background, Maple cannot be crated. She would love a forever family that included someone who is at home with her a lot of the time. She does well with a step in harness and with it walks well on a leash. Collars were a bit scary for her but she is now proudly wearing her martingale collar! We are excited about the progress she is making. Maple loves any humans that she meets including children. She loves the cats and would like to herd/chase the resident cats but stops when she is asked to. She has gone 6 days without any accidents in the house and again, having another dog to imitate has helped with her house training. If you ask what you notice when you first meet her, it is unanimous that she is a happy sweet girl.
