Description:
Piper is a beautiful young 14 month old sable living with a foster family which includes three adults, a young child, three dogs, and a cat. Even though Piper has been with them a short while she has acclimated quickly. She plays well with the other collie in the house and loves playing with the smaller dog who is similar in age and energy level.
Piper travels well in a car and was a delightful patient who won over the staff and veterinarian at her first checkup. Piper walks nicely on leash but needs to learn her basic commands. Her foster mom will be working on this and suggests any adopter interested in her follow up with obedience training for this young girl. She is still a bit afraid of some things as she has had a lot of changes in her young life. A patient adopter is needed as Piper begins to learn and understand her new life. She stays very close to her human outside in the fenced yard and is not quite sure of all the sounds and movements from cars, birds, and neighbors outside but every day a bit more progress is seen as she grows more accustomed to these sights and sounds.
Piper is extremely affectionate and wants to be a lap dog. Piper is young and has high energy so an owner that is experienced and willing to work with her is needed. She loves playing with ALL the dog toys in het foster home. Her favorite is a giant plush cat that she loves to carry around, shake with her head, or play tug of war with the smallest dog in the pack. Some of her other favorite toys include nylabones and Kongs stuffed with surprise treats!
Piper has been very good so far with the foster’s young grandson who turns four soon. She is learning that a little human moves fast like she does but has been taught to be gentle and kind with the dogs and cat in the home.
Piper has not had any accidents in her brand new home. She is crate trained and shows no signs of food aggression. Piper would do best with someone who is younger active and willing to put in the time to take her to obedience training. Once Piper has mastered her basic commands, she will be a wonderful loving companion.
