Description:
Duke is a happy, enthusiastic collie. Indoors he is fun loving and playful but also enjoys frequent petting and cuddling. He has been a velcro dog, happy to follow his humans wherever they are headed. He already understands and responds to “Fetch,” “Walk,” “Treat,” and “No.” He is a smart boy and is anxious to please. There are no other dogs in his foster family and on walks he is nervous around dogs who are dominant or behave in an intimidating manner so he would only enjoy a doggie sibling who is not an “in charge” kind of dog. However, he loves people, in fact everyone he meets is an instant friend. Outside in his yard he loves to run laps so would enjoy a fenced in yard where he has the freedom to run. He is crate trained, house trained and has good house manners. And, he is making progress on walking well on a leash. He is a good natured boy who has the normal enthusiasm and energy of a young dog. He is looking for an adopter who would enjoy his playful personality and he will be a trustworthy friend.
*Note about Duke’s weight: Duke is currently quite underweight at 51 lbs. His foster family is working to help him put on pounds. When he reaches a healthy weight, he should be at roughly 70lbs. Please factor this in when considering if Duke is the right dog for you.
