Joy's New Home

Hello! I want to tell you about my journey, and how I found my forever home.

My name is Joy, and I am only one year old. At least, that's what my humans tell me ... but it sure feels like I am a lot older. I can't really tell you about my life before I was rescued; I just remember being cold and hungry and no one gave me any attention. It made me very afraid of people and sounds. Just when I felt like I couldn't go on any londer, these people came and rescued me. They took me in and gave me a food and a bath, took care of the sores on my ears, and nursed me back to health. I was confused by this at first, but grew to love them.

The people were from Almost Home. They often said to me "I love you", but I didn't know then what that meant. I went to a foster home where I was fed again, and while I was still scared, I knew I was in a good home. I had a very nice foster brother named Archie, whom my foster parents obviously loved. They gave me a lot of attention, and I finally started to understand what that "love" word meant.

One day my foster parents took me for a ride, and then to visit a family at their house. We spent the day playing together. When it came time to leave, I heard another strange word: home. They said they loved me and wanted me to be their dog. I agreed and thanks to AHDRO, I found my forever home! I am still scared sometimes, but I am learning to trust again. My parents tell me I have all the time in the world because they'll always be right by my side. I know THEY LOVE ME and I love them!

Adopt a Dog

Please ask your friends to adopt dogs from shelters or rescues rather than buying them from pet stores. A dog is killed due to the lack of a home approximately every 9 seconds ... adopting rescue or shelter dogs will help to reduce the number of dogs euthanized in shelters; it will also reduce the demand for puppies bred for sale in pet stores in the inhumane conditions of puppy mills.
