Chance

Chance came to us as an owner surrender from a breeder, along with 6 other dogs. They all lived outside in metal pens and were basically treated like farm animals their entire lives. We were told that Chance was 5, but later found out through his AKC papers that he was in fact 8 years old.

Chance had never been indoors before coming to our rescue, didn’t know how to go up and down stairs, didn’t know how to eat from a bowl, and had never known a human who was kind to him.

Now Chance has a happy home with people who love him, and he loves to be groomed and brushed. It doesn’t appear that Chance had ever had a bath, let alone been brushed, before coming to Almost Home, and now it is one of his favorite things. He loves to groom himself by licking his paws to keep them clean when he comes in from the outdoors.

Almost Home heavily relies on donations to be able to continue our rescue. Quite often, the cost to rescue a dog far exceeds our requested adoption fee.

Adopt a Dog

Please ask your friends to adopt dogs from shelters or rescues rather than buying them from pet stores. A dog is killed due to the lack of a home approximately every 9 seconds ... adopting rescue or shelter dogs will help to reduce the number of dogs euthanized in shelters; it will also reduce the demand for puppies bred for sale in pet stores in the inhumane conditions of puppy mills.
