Dog to be trained as therapy tool for Burlington school

BURLINGTON, Iowa — He doesn't have the job yet, but since coming to James Madison Middle School, the puppy named Spartan has looked good in auditions.
With a bit of training, and a few more months of maturity, the one-time stray could earn his kibble as the Burlington School District's first certified therapy dog next summer. Little more than a month after first showing up outside the Madison Avenue school, Spartan is showing a flair for the duties he will be trained to fulfill.
Almost Home heavily relies on donations to be able to continue our rescue. Quite often, the cost to rescue a dog far exceeds our requested adoption fee.

Adopt a Dog
Please ask your friends to adopt dogs from shelters or rescues rather than buying them from pet stores. A dog is killed due to the lack of a home approximately every 9 seconds ... adopting rescue or shelter dogs will help to reduce the number of dogs euthanized in shelters; it will also reduce the demand for puppies bred for sale in pet stores in the inhumane conditions of puppy mills.
