AHDRO took in 12 year old Ginger in when her owner got sick and had to be moved into a hospice care facility. Ginger had spent her whole life in the same home and was very, very frightened and confused when she came to us. AHDRO felt a huge burden of responsibility to be sure that Ginger went to a very special home where we could promise her owner that she would be loved, cherished and cared for, for the rest of her life.
One of our former adopters, who had recently lost their own dog, stepped up to provide just such a home! It is a quiet home where Ginger is the only dog and gets all of the love and attention. Her new owners understand that it is a hard transition for an old dog to move into a new home and they are doing everything they can to make her happy. She loves being outside, so they walk and run with her. They spend time hanging out in the yard while Ginger explores and sniffs around for hidden rabbits. Ginger gets to go on errands (and once even to work) with her new mom! She loves that! Later in the evening she relaxes on the glider on the front porch. Her new family says they “love her to pieces!”
We can’t imagine a better home for Ginger and we are so deeply grateful to all of our supporters for sharing Ginger’s story and working to help us find her the perfect place.
