How would you describe a great dog? Fun loving and playful but when the playing is done is just as happy to lie at your feet? House trained? Smart and eager to please? Stops what he is doing when you say no? Well I have just described Winston. Winston is at that wonderful age of nine months. Past the puppy stage but not quite full grown. So you will have the opportunity to guide him into adulthood.
Winston especially loves playing with other dogs and has lived with several dogs, his whole life. He initiates play with his foster doggie siblings, runs and is learning to play with toys with them. But, according to his former owners ,who unfortunately had to give him up due to their circumstances, he also gets along well with children. He hardly ever barks and so far has not been afraid of noises, but he has not experienced things like thunderstorms since he had been at the foster’s home. There is a doggie door at the foster’s and he loves to explore outside on his own (but at his former home he scratched at the door when he needed to go outside.) When inside he enjoys being near “his people” and keeps an eye on what is going on around him.
He goes into his crate when the family leaves or when it is time to go to bed. Since he is not yet an adult, and as is normal at his age, there are a few things that Winston is working on. He knows “sit” and they are working on “down.” He appears to understand “come” but the treat bag in your hand is what motivates him to comply. He will be safe and happy in a fenced-in yard and although still at the “chewing” age, he chews on toys and only attempted to chew on a people item once or twice. He is a handsome guy, is affectionate, curious, and rarely barks. He is looking forward to his forever home and if he could speak would tell you, “Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.”
