Emmalee is a sweet, beautiful older sheltie. We believe she is about 10 years old. She is a calm gal who walks well on a leash, albeit slowly, due to her age. She is quiet; the foster has not heard her bark. She was a little unsure of herself when she first arrived at her foster home but now is exploring her environment. Emmalee enjoys being petted and often follows her foster mom around the house.
Since she is a little hard of hearing, following “commands” is hard for her, but she comes when she hears you call her. She loves treats and takes them very gently. She is house trained and her signal to go out is being up and walking around more than usual so her foster mom has to be aware of where she is.
Emmalee had to have one eye removed when she came to Almost Home. Since she has difficulty with several senses both hearing and eyesight and seems to feel vulnerable in new situations as well as having some difficulty when the unexpected happens near her, the decision was made to place her in the senior to senior program where she will stay with her foster mom for the rest of her life. She is very comfortable there and at her age, multiple transitions are difficult and can impact a dogs health and well being. We are happy that Emmalee has found her forever home.
