The Rescue of Lily

Lily is our newest special girl. She was found along side a busy road by a local vet techncian who took her to the vet's office to have her examined. She was obviously in distress and hurt. They shaved her to her bare skin, checked her out and then called Almost Home.

We took her in and immediately saw much bigger issues with her. She could not even walk and when she would stand there was something seriously wrong with her hips. You could feel her bones grinding. She was thin and lethargic. She was giving up and in intense pain.

We took her to our vet and found this poor sweetie has a broken pelvis! We think she was hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road. She was not responding well to anything. Can you imagine the pain she endured getting her gorgeous coat completely shaved?

Lily is in our care now and had surgery on Wednesday, June 23rd. She has a long way to go for recovery and her medical bills will run several thousand dollars. Through all her pain and suffering, this girl still laid her head in the lap of her foster mom and gave kisses!

Please follow Lily’s story as it is posted online. This is what we do. We RESCUE! It is expensive but we could not say no to this beautiful Collie.

We will be accepting donations to help with the cost of her medical expenses. Please indicate on your donation that it is for the care and recovery of Lily. She deserves to be healed and loved!

Almost Home heavily relies on donations to be able to continue our rescue. Quite often, the cost to rescue a dog far exceeds our requested adoption fee.
